WordPress Managed Hosting
I always recommend you use some form of WordPress managed hosting. These are hosts that cater specifically to WordPress websites.
Their servers are usually better configured, caching is already set up for you, and their support is more knowledgeable about WordPress issues. They typically offer functionality that non-WordPress hosts don’t, like one-click backups and restores, a staging server, and security monitoring.
Most of our clients are hosted with Big Scoots or WPEngine. If you ever experience downtime or critical technical issues with your website, you should contact your host immediately. They provide 24/7 support and have the technical expertise to resolve the issue quickly.
Technical Support
Some of our clients appreciate the added benefits of a NerdPress support plan. They provide automated backups, site updates, security scanning and firewall, uptime monitoring, and more.
They include ongoing performance enhancements to your site to ensure it’s always loading as fast as possible. They can also be a trusted advisor, providing recommendations based on their experience and help you troubleshoot common issues (ex: Google Search Console issues).
Design and Development Services
Our team – Bill Erickson, Duane Smith, and Andrew Pautler – will continue to help you improve your website after your site launches.
It could be designing and building a new landing page, updating your theme to leverage a new feature added in WordPress, or building completely new functionality into your website.
I personally set aside 20% of my time to support existing clients with changes to the websites I’ve built.
When you have a change you’d like to make, send me an email describing it. If it requires design work, we’ll bring in the designer that worked on your website (Andrew or Duane). We can usually address small changes within a week or two.
Development Retainer
If you need more than 1 hr/week of ongoing development services, I will recommend you work with Zao, a development agency partner of ours.
Their team can dedicate more time on a weekly and monthly basis to ongoing support than I can. They are incredibly talented, responsive, and very familiar with our code.
They are also our development partner for ecommerce and membership websites, so if you need to add that type of functionality to your website I’ll recommend bringing them in as they have that specific expertise.
