WordPress Consulting

A successful website doesn’t just look great; it should be simple to maintain.

I build websites using the WordPress platform, an open-source Content Management System. It makes editing your website as easy as editing a Word document.

How Much?

A standard web development project is $2,000, and most projects with custom functionality are in the $2,000-$5,000 range depending on complexity. This does not include the cost of hiring a designer.

Genesis Theme Framework

A theme framework is a tool for efficiently developing complex websites. Instead of re-inventing the wheel, a theme framework let’s you customize what’s unique (like the look and feel), while maintaining a clean, secure and well-built codebase.

Here’s a few reasons why I use Genesis:

  • SEO: The code is SEO-optimized and provides granular control of your SEO settings
  • Security: StudioPress has hired Mark Jaquith, core developer of WordPress, to provide multiple security audits. You won’t find another theme as secure as this.
  • Customizable: It provides hooks and filters to customize anything and everything. I have never seen a design that couldn’t be built with Genesis.
  • Reusable: Since all the sites I build use the same codebase, I can leverage everything I’ve done for past clients on your project. See my blog for code examples.

From Design to Functional Website

As a developer, my preferred project workflow is to initially receive a completed design (PSD). I’ll build the WordPress website on my development server, and when we’re ready to launch I’ll migrate it to your server.

If you have a website that you want converted to WordPress, you can just provide me with a link to the website.

Need a designer? No Problem!

I’m not a jack of all trades. I focus on one thing and do it well – WordPress development. But I partner with great designers that can take your vision, goals, and existing brand to create a perfect design.

I will introduce you to a few designers, you can review their portfolios, pick your favorite, and hire them for the design aspect. Once the design is complete, they’ll deliver it to me and I’ll build it into a WordPress theme.

Responsive Design

Your content should look great on every device. Responsive design allows your content to scale and restructure to better fit on smaller screens.

After building many responsive themes, including one of the most popular responsive themes for sale, I’m able to add this to most websites fairly easily. The cost and feasibility depends entirely on your site’s design, but for most $2,000 projects it only adds an additional $500.

WordPress Training

Need some help learning your way around WordPress? I have an agreement with WP101 to provide their extensive list of training videos to any of my clients that need it. I also provide detailed instructions for managing your specific theme, which can be found inside the WordPress admin area.

WordPress Hosting

My favorite host is WP Engine. They are (in my opinion) the best hosting company for WordPress. If you’re looking for something more affordable, I also recommend Bluehost.

Disclosure: I am an affiliate for both, but I only recommend services I’ve used and like.
